Sam Macleay
Hi! Thanks for taking the time to look at my website.
I got my start in audio production at YR Media (Youth Radio) in Oakland, CA, where I began to produce music and edit audio. From there I began taking media production classes at Laney College, where I built a foundational understanding of audio production - signal flow, microphone techniques, field recording, and live sound.
At this point I started working gigs where and whenever I could. I spent some time doing production sound and getting comfortable with the fast-paced environment that is film and media production. I ended up dipping my toes into related fields of media production, spending some time interning in broadcast technical operations and engineering at Electronic Arts. There I gained a really valuable perspective on how to manage a fairly large production facility.
I ended up transferring to San Francisco State’s Broadcast and Electronic Communication Arts program, where I really had the opportunity to push my skills in mixing and recording, audio post-production for video, and live broadcast audio for television. I feel very lucky to have met, worked with, and learned from so many knowledgeable and creative people.
I’m passionate about audio in any capacity - whether we’re recording footsteps in a foley studio or designing strange patches on a synth. I am now looking for opportunities in audio post-production and game audio.
